Bigge is one the world’s largest crane sales and rental organizations. We always look for quality equipment to add to our growing crane fleet and have the largest cranes sales inventory of used and new cranes in the United States. We look for companies to partner with at Bauma.

Human Resources Business Partner

We seek an experienced Human Resources Business Partner reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources, both located in San Leandro, CA.

Position Outline

As the HR Business Partner, you are an integral part of the Bigge community. You will partner with the business, explore ways to uniquely position growth and development, and gain market share. You will provide expertise focused on the creation of an engaging environment. That includes building personal responsibility, solving business issues that interfere with our positive workplace, and dissolving barriers to the achievement of next level of success. What you’ll be doing all day:

Business Partner Coaching and Consulting

• Consult on solutions in the areas of workforce planning, recruiting, staffing, employee relations, performance management, Equal Employment Opportunity, diversity, plus organizational and employee development.
• Provides integrated, full-spectrum human resources consultation.
• Coaches team leaders on effective leadership and management within the organization.
• Leverages a deep understanding of business strategy to provide expert insight and leadership into organizational effectiveness and impact on talent planning and development.

Talent Management and Performance

• Collaborates with management to develop win-win solutions on a wide variety of complex employee relations issues.
• Drives the department's talent agenda for ensuring thoughtful assessments and people development.
• Leads management in annual performance and compensation programs.

Workforce Planning

• Partners to defines talent needs and workforce plans. Works with management to develop workforce and recruiting strategies that effectively acquire or align talent.
• Manages the overall staffing process and including the touch points and partners, which includes:
◦ Leveraging our HRIS system (BambooHR) to manager the process - Application disposition and flow;
◦ Develop accurate and incising job descriptions in partnership with the hiring manager;
◦ Own resource support: creation, maintenance and library of HR relevant templates, forms and correspondence;
◦ Manage timely job post, screen applicants, and conduct initial phone screen interviews;
◦ Oversee offer and hiring process – internal equity review, offer terms, background checks and screening;
◦ Define and oversee sourcing strategies, negotiate terms of agreements/contracts and manage vendors

Program Design/Implementation - Change Management

• Acts as a change agent. Designs scalable processes, approaches and systems to prepare for ongoing growth, change and transformation.
• Partners closely with management to implement Bigge’s human resources policies and procedures and support strategies to implement programs.
• Participates in developing new Bigge programs and initiatives.
• Provides human resources project leadership on significant business events within the company.
• Partners with cross-functional teams to effectively drive, communicate, manage and enhance human resources programs and initiatives.
• Identifies and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to promote continual improvements in the HR department and in services performed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The HR Business Partner comes to Bigge with a broad knowledge of a variety of human resources disciplines. Your ability to coach, influence, facilitate, present, communicate, develop processes, and analyze and solve problems is well developed. You have specialized knowledge of human resources theories, principles, and practices. You understand human resources as an interrelated system of functional operations. You have a strong understanding of federal and state labor laws, with industry best practices.
Your planning and project management skills are unquestioned. You bring a demonstrated ability to identify recurring issues and to develop solutions to resolve those issues. You balance competing priorities in both strategic and day-to-day service delivery with style, grace and patience. Your analytical skills and proven competence in resolving simple and complex human resources and organizational issues may appear magical to some.

You prepare and present effective oral and written reports and have intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Qualification Guidelines

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of HR experience.• 2 years of active recruiting
• Minimum of 3 years-experience as an HR Business Partner or similar, with strong Employee Relations experience.
• Professional Human Resources certification.
• Experience in an organization with significant employee base
• Union experience a plus
